Happy Valentine’s Day!

It’s the one day of the year where you’re obligated to express love in a way you normally don’t throughout the entire year.

While that’s not entirely true, don’t we all feel a bit of pressure to go out of our way to do something different for those we love on Valentine’s Day? What about the other 364 days of the year? But I digress…

Seriously though, for those of us who aren’t used to being romantic or getting dressed up for social outings, the pressure can be enormous.

Truth be told, it’s typically the men who have a little more trouble then us ladies in this category. So instead of making them feel worse than they already may be, let’s give them a little help!

Nothing’s worse than making our mate go somewhere he doesn’t want wearing something he’s not comfortable in. But if you follow these tips, you can help him both look good and feel good tonight:

How to Dress Your Date for Valentine’s Day

1. Start with His Favorite Pair of Jeans

Unless you’re going to a black tie dinner, a great pair of jeans can be dressed up to fit in almost anywhere. Plus, if he’s wearing something he’s comfortable in on the bottom, he’ll be more likely to experiment with what’s on top…

2. Add a Bright Color on Top

With his jeans as a base, pick out a top in a color just a bit outside of his comfort zone. I’m not talking Valentine’s colors like bubble gum pink or candy apple red, but instead try a shirt or blazer in a bright navy blue or pantone’s color of the year, greenery.

3. Shoes Make the Outfit

Sure, a great tie can spice up any outfit, but if you really want to put the true finishing touches on your date’s Valentine’s Day outfit, encourage him to try on some new shoes. It’s easy these days to find comfy yet stylish options in both loafers and sneakers that can complement his new date night look.

Chances are you can’t change everything about your guy in just one night, but then again why would you want to? After all, his look has something to do with why you love him in the first place, right?

But even the best packages can benefit from a new, shiny bow every now and then. Enjoy your date night!
